Reviews

"A strikingly accomplished young writer with a true flare for storytelling and character development. You dive into this book and hope it will never end."
~ Kate Delano-Condax Decker

"I read the first book on my kindle yesterday. (Yes, the whole book.)... I just now bought Book Two and Book 2.5. That is how addicting I find Prophecy of the Flame."
~ Elizabeth Polley

Prophecy of the Flame

In a blinding flash of light, five strangers are yanked from this world and thrust into a land of sorcery as they are granted the looks and abilities of the people they were playing. This band of wannabe heroes soon discovers that having the powers they have always dreamed of, does not make life a dream come true. The Crusaders of the Light struggle to form a cohesive band as they blend twentieth century technology with the supernatural powers of this new world, fighting to liberate the kingdom of Cuthburan from the evil horde threatening humanity.

Battle is also waged within Reba, an ordinary housewife who has become the most powerful mage on the planet, as she struggles to remain true to her wedding vows. Drawn against her will to the arms of Prince Alexandros, Reba must choose between a marriage to a handsome prince in a magical world or returning to the husband she left behind.

YA Rated - Young adult?

This is the first book in the Prophecy of the Flame series. Although classified as Fantasy, it has a dash of romance with a contemporary slant. The romance is intertwined with the fantasy, so neither is overwhelming. Many teen readers have been drawn to this book, though it was never intended for a teen & young adult audience.

A Review of Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy

Ms. Hardy takes a nice concept -- physical role playing devotees are transported to a magical realm where their fantasy powers and attributes become reality - and sprinkles it with humor, pathos, and some really strange moments.

Reba and her husband Kyle, along with several members of their role-playing unit attend a Fantasy Conference and find themselves magically transported to a land called Cuthbaren. While they adjust to the surroundings, they're tasked with curing Prince Alexandros, who's been mortally wounded. Using their new-found powers the group successfully heals the prince and enjoy the comforts of his kingdom. The action picks up when they're asked to close a portal a wicked sorcerer opened - one leading to a realm filled with demonic creatures.

All in all, this is a good read where the main characters are fully realized and the tension is prevalent throughout. I thought the romance featured in the book was iffy, but the characters mentality seemed to fit the situations. Penciled professional looking drawings are scattered through the novel, depicting scenes meant to insert you into the book.

I gave it 4-Stars because it is a little rough around the edges, but nothing to interrupt the pleasure you'll have reading it.

Prophecy of the Flame Book One eBook Lynn Hardy Yivgeni Matoussov Reviews

I confess--sci-fi is not usually my read; I'm more into contemporary romance or adventure and murder mysteries. But every once in a while I step out of character and go on the "wildside"-- and that is what this book was for me--it was full of fast moving adventure, characters with strengths and flaws, grotesque and terrifying enemies, determined warriors, romantic tension and MAGIC!

Rebecca and her fellow gamers slide from a fun filled day in the twenty first century into an old world dimension; a world where she is welcomed as the fulfillment of a prophesy and revered as the saviour of the Kingdom of Cuthburan, which is being threatened by a grotesque enemy. She finds herself known as Archmage, Reba and she has magical powers that she could have only imagined in the twenty first century.

The characters are well written, and portray strengths and flaws. There is romantic tension; Alex the prince of Cuthburan is a womanizer, challenged by the fact that Reba resists his powers of persuasion. His younger brother Szames becomes her strong ally, her confidant, someone she relys on; but does he want more? Does she want more? Will she resist both of them and remain true to the marriage vows she took in the 21st century.

Will she lead them to victory over the enemy? Will she fulfill the Prophecy of the Flame? You'll have to read it to find out. The book was like the fourth of July; rocket speed adventure and fireworks galore. I read in bed before I go to sleep, and I confess, I took a couple of afternoon rests so I could read!

I enjoyed the read and was hooked by the cliff hanger ending. Now I'll have to step onto the "wild side" again and read the next one to find out what happens. Will she go back to the 21st century as she proclaims she wants to, or will she literally fulfill the entire prophecy?
I didn’t read this book right away because judging from the first sentences, it depicts gaming ( online games only physically), which means I have to deal with sci-fi and much worst gaming. But to my regret, after a month when I continued reading, I find this as exciting as a roller coater ride.)

Prophecy of the Flame by Lynn Hardy is about

In a blinding flash of light, five nondescript strangers are yanked from this world and thrust into a land of sorcery as they are granted the looks and abilities of the people they were playing. Drawn against her will to the arms of Prince Alexandros, Reba must choose marriage to a handsome prince in a magical world or returning to the husband she left behind.

The book kinda reminds me of Harry Potter, only with demons and princes and princesses. The Archmage is present, a druid elf, a dwarf, a master healer and a prince charming.

I fell in love instantly with the story, I don’t know why, some magic-themed books are not just striking, but this one had me at my heels.)

I enjoyed reading each chapters, and am always eager to read on and on, the suspense keeps me going and the actions and spells just add spice to it. My appreciation for the wonderful rhymes too. And Frog kissin’ would be a hit, if it’s really a song.
Mrs. Hardy poured out her imagination and her feelings too on this one, it’s filled with magic, actions, adventure, romance and camaraderie, and also faith too.

One of the best thing I’ve read in this is when, the temple’s priest ask Reba to pay homage to his god but she refuses claiming that she will never kneel nor pay worship to anyone unless it was God. I almost cried at this point (I edited, this the conversation/ actual words said only.)

“It is required that all who enter pay respects to Andskoti.”
“My beliefs do not allow me to kneel to any god but mine.”
“B-but, it is required of all who enter, regardless of their beliefs.” “You must kneel in respect. No homage is expected, purely acknowledgment.”
“I am not a child of your world.” “I worship God. He doesn’t allow me to bend a knee to any other god, not even in the giving of respect or acknowledgment.”

In addition, the book is a romance type to, I can’t wait to know if Reba and Szames could blossom, or would Alex triumph over Reba?, much worse , what about her husband?

I honestly love everything about this, except the fact that Reba is married on earth dimension. But maybe something will happen on the next book. But as I would want to end the book, I really hope ,she would be with Szames.

The cover isn’t that appealing, though of course it should contain flames. But overall , a really good book.

The saga of Reba, Szames, and Alex continues in Book Two - Love's Price.
This is w truly remarkable fantasy. Complete with the kind of magic mages should be able to wield. I could barely put this book down. I too have had dreams I would love to turn into adventures. And they are free! Im willing to donate $5, as I really enjoyed this book. Wow!
